Simon Sherriff

Simon Sherriff, an associate lighting designer was after a new website and logo, so naturally he gave his old mate Alex at Slab Studio a shout and we put a plan together.

The initial chat about the website and logo was done in a coffee shop in Busan, South Korea, becasue weridly we both happend to be there. It was one of those places that had fancy touch screens and funny icy coffees that come in strange colours with weird floating blobs and straws. You are looked at with pity while you try to navigate a menu completely in Korean by just looking at pictures, but we managed to and got some nice coffee, that was hot, didn’t have blobs or a straw.
But I digress.

Simon needed to showcase his portfolio of work and his arsenal of skills. Anyone who knows him knows that he is an incredible asset to any production and he brings real value to any project he’s involved in. You see he is not just an associate lighting designer, he’s been in the trenches and still is. While focusing on being a shit hot ALD, CAD drawer, visualiser and documenter of lighting paperwork, he still actively works as a production electrician. This active role enables him to understand what’s works day to day.
I need to remember that I’m not writing Simon’s CV here, this is about the website and logo…

The website walks the user through Simon’s skillset, allowing them to navigate and learn more about how he will enhance anyone’s experience when he’s on the project. The website also allows people to get in contact with Simon, which I think is pretty crucial for a portfolio website…

Simon’s logo is pretty cool with a simple clean S icon using one flowing line in a lovely burgundy and then a nice clean wordmark on a blocky black background. 

Slab also made HTML email signatures as well, which, while are a pretty dull subject they look super professional and extreamly jazzy.
